JOB DUTIES: The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) is a multi-hospital and multi-regional healthcare system comprised of Acute Care Hospitals, Long Term Care facilities, Critical Access Hospitals, multiple outpatient clinics, and affiliated entities and foundations. The Corporate Office is located in Leahi Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii.
This position serves as the Director of Risk Management and oversees a comprehensive, system-wide risk management program. In doing so, the Director of Risk Management develops, implements, and evaluates the risk management program for the HHSC system, in conjunction with the Regional and Facility Risk Managers, and under the direction of the Vice President & General Counsel.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION: Minimum Qualifications – Applicant must have Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession, e.g. nursing, healthcare administration, health sciences. Preferred qualifications – Advanced degree in a health care profession, public administration, or law degree.
EXPERIENCE: This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in acute hospitals and/or integrated healthcare delivery systems, and a broad knowledge of hospital operations. Position requires extensive experience in risk management, performing risk management or patient safety activities and/or patient relations in an institutional setting.
CERTIFICATION: ARM, CPCU, GASHRM, DFASHRM, or CPHQ or CPHRM designation is desirable.
LICENSE: None required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires post-graduate level competencies in statistical analysis. Position requires excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time. Position requires a healthcare administrative or clinical background in a hospital or healthcare facility setting.
