FUNCTION: 

This position is responsible for all cooking operations in the regular and special diet kitchen, including supervising other cooks and participating in cooking activities; practicing safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment and supplies, planning of modified diets as directed by the Manager. Responsible for all baking in the department and performs other duties as assigned. Must be available all days, all shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience and Training:Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience which demonstrated knowledge and skill to perform general quantity cooking duties. Quantity cooking is defined as experience in the daily preparation of meals in a restaurant, hospital, school, correctional facility or other large institution. Experience of this kind may be gained as a cook in a kitchen where large scale cooking operations are performed and a large number of meals are served daily.

The experience must have demonstrated knowledge of and ability to independently prepare various types of foods using various cooking methods (e.g., cooking meats, fish and poultry by various processes, such as roasting, baking, broiling and/or frying).  At least one year of experience must have been comparable to the class Cook II.

Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, previous work experience in a position that demonstrates or performs supervisory functions or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Licensure:            None required

Knowledge of: Kitchen management; quantity cookery; the use and care of cooking utensils and equipment; kitchen safety and sanitation requirements; principles and practices of supervision; menu planning; food purchasing and storage.

Ability to

Instruct and supervise others in cooking activities; estimate amounts of foods necessary to meet menu requirements; plan cooking activities to meet scheduled meal times; get along well with others; tolerate kitchen heat; perform heavy lifting, moving and carrying typical of the class.

Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.  Physical demands may include (with assistance) lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and occasional pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.  Standing and walking seven (7) hours a day or more.  Environmental conditions may include extreme hot, cold and temperature changes (such as walking into the walk-in freezer).  Working conditions will require working with and being exposed to toxic chemicals used for cleaning.  Protective equipment will be issued such as gloves, masks, goggles, and aprons.

FUNCTION: The position of Registered Professional Nurse IV (Education/EMR), under the direction of the Inservice Education Nurse Manager, assists with the planning, development, training, evaluation, and coordination of inservice education and EMR implementation for the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kauai region personnel.

The Registered Professional Nurse IV (Education/EMR) assists the Inservice Education unit by developing and initiating orientation programs for new nursing personnel; coordinating, developing, and implementing educational programs for on-the-job training and continuing education for all Kauai region personnel.

The Registered Professional Nurse IV (Education/EMR) is responsible for ensuring that the age-appropriate healthcare needs of the adult, geriatric, pediatric and newborn population are provided by either coordinating directly, or inservicing employees as mandated by all State and Federal Regulations, Joint Commission and other accrediting bodies.

The Registered Professional Nurse IV (Education/EMR) assists with break relieves within the nursing units. May also work weekends and assigned to other units to assist or take assignments in direct patient services, as needed. 

Position reports to the Education Nurse Manager (RPN V), position number 20862.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.  Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.  Graduate from a nursing program with a bachelor’s of science in nursing from an accredited school of nursing is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: One and one-half years (1 1/2) of professional nursing work experience in either an acute or critical access hospital.

Preferred Experience: In addition to the required experience above two (2) years of clinical / technical knowledge (programming, database design, systems analysis, project management) or other applicable experience highly desirable. 

Preferred Certification: Pediatric Life Support (PALS), Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and/or other certification classes.

Licensure: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Certifications: Current BLS (upon hire). Certified Course Instructor for BLS (within 3 months of hire). Be able to obtain certified instructorship for assigned classes (ACLS, PALS, etc. ) within one (1) year of hire.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     A.  Systems Analysis and Implementation                                                         

    1. Primary responsibility is to provide the most efficient and reliable analytical support and service to the HHSC facilities and their user departments through the functional application components and interfaces that make up the Hospital Information System.
    2.  Develops, implements and supports application solutions to various business problems based on existing and future automated application systems and interfaces to meet functional user requirements.
    3. Analyzes and coordinates with vendors the installation of functional applications solutions, upgrades and enhancements including training, documentation and controls to insure secured and proper functioning of the systems.
    4. Analyzes, plans, develops and coordinates the generation of interfaces between application systems using standard interface protocols.
    5. Coordinate the installation and maintenance of hardware and software applications with vendors and hospital personnel.
    6. Develops training materials and coordinates training of users for their respective software applications.
    7. Tests Application and Interface changes to ensure they function as designed.
    8. Monitors and updates support tickets and ensures end users are aware of the status of the ticket at any given time.

B.  Maintenance                                                                                                     

  1. Manages, plans, develops, supports and assists with updates and maintenance of applications software systems and interfaces to current release/version acceptable levels.
  2. Coordinates with impacted users for training, documentation and controls.
  3. Performs upgrades and updates training materials and operations manuals for respective software applications.

C.  User and Management Liaison

  1. Communicates current and ongoing research and findings, project status and reporting of various other I.S. activities via oral and written reports to appropriate user and management personnel.
  2. Studies and assists in coordinating the standardization of applications and controls within HHSC facilities to optimize maintenance costs and enhance training and reporting compatibility.
  3. Assists in the planning and implementation of I.S. policies and procedures to meet Joint Commission standards.
  4.  Assists in the review and evaluation of the network.

D.   General Responsibilities                                                                                   

  1. Prepare and maintain user documents including application policies and procedures for operations, programming standards.
  2. Assists, evaluates and coordinates plans and projects for sharing information with other HHSC facilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSE

         A.  Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college.

 Excess experience of the types and quality described below or any administrative, professional,  analytical, technical, or other responsible work which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

B.  Experience:  Three and one half (3-1/2) years of progressively responsible work experience in information technology which involved the systems analysis, design, programming, security and access management, database design and management, consulting, and/or installing and maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and web or network infrastructure equipment. The work must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology principles, methods, techniques and practices; computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment; and personal computer, server, mini and/or mainframe operating systems.  At least one year of the required specialized experience must have been at the fully competent level comparable to the IS Specialist III level.

DESIRED SKILLS

FUNCTION: This position is located in the Business Office Section of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH).  KVMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 facilities statewide.

The Clerk III provides clerical services and support assistance to the Revenue Cycle Department staff by creating, retrieving and maintaining record files and other duties as assigned. 3.   Partial Completion of Clerical Training: 

a.  Completion of half a school year of substantially full-time clerical curriculum at an accredited community college, or business and/or technical school which included courses in basic English, arithmetic, general clerical procedures, and office machines may be substituted for six (6) months of experience.

This position directs and coordinates all aspects of the Maui Region transition to Maui Health System in the finance and operations area, working with HHSC and Maui Region transition teams to effectuate a smooth transition of HHSC-Maui Region operations.

I.  MAJOR DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES

A.  Administrative and Financial Functions

  1. Management of wind-down plan for all areas of Finance, including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  2. Procurement and coordination of contractors/resources to accomplish the wind-down plan, including but not limited to obtaining work space for such resources.
  3. Coordination of storage of records in all areas of Finance and other operational areas as necessary.
  4. Serves as contact person for fiscal year 2016 financial statement auditors for Maui Region and fiscal year 2016 cost report preparers.
  5. Serves as liaison with other operational areas (e.g. information technology, quality reporting, etc.) with Maui Region personnel.
  6. Coordination of remaining State-funded CIP projects with Kaiser management.
  7. Reporting to Corporate Executive Management on progress of transition.

B. Other Duties

  1. Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interfacing with staff and outside agency personnel.
