FUNCTION: The Secretary III, Regional Facilities Administrative Assistant, is responsible for providing day to day administrative assistance to the Institution Facilities Superintendent (IFS).  The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist the IFS  in the development, implementation and finalization of all facility projects, as well as administrative responsibilities for the physical plant and environmental services functions for the Kauai Region. This position gathers, extracts, and refines statistical data to prepare reports;  attends Hospital and Committee meetings at the direction of the IFS; ensures Hospital Policies & Procedures are current; assists the IFS in administering all programs  as it relates to environmental services, constructions, land beautification, telecommunication systems maintenance, capital improvement, acquisition of permits, development and administration of policies and procedures, and the solicitation and coordination of all major bids for the equipment or construction for the Kauai Region.

This position requires travel, on a regular basis, to and from facilities within the Kauai Region and may be subject to work evenings and weekends.

Ability to:  Plan, organize and carry out a broad range of secretarial and clerical functions; organize, assign, direct and review the work of others; learn and apply knowledge of the organization, procedures and key personnel; write varied business letters, summaries and reports requiring judgment as to appropriate format and conforming to all rules of grammar and style; speak simply and directly to individuals and groups in conveying limited information about some technical aspects of programs as well as all aspects of routine procedures; maintain confidential files and records relative to employee-employer relations and other matters; deal tactfully with others, both within and outside the organization in carrying out the instructions and policies of the supervisor; for some positions type accurately at an acceptable rate of speed, or type and take and transcribe dictation at acceptable rates of speed; for some positions, operate an automobile.

FUNCTION: The Secretary III, Regional Financial Administrative Assistant, is responsible for a broad variety of secretarial, clerical, and stenographic support services to the Regional Chief Financial Officer (RCFO).  The primary purpose of this position is to perform assigned administrative and financial duties in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and established policies and procedures, and as directed by the RCFO.  This position is expected to exercise a significant degree of initiative and independent judgment while exercising a high degree of confidentiality in the execution of assignments.  Be able to interact with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization.  Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.

FUNCTION:  The Director of Clinical Quality Improvement serves as the facilitator responsible for the hospital-wide quality assurance (QA) and performance improvement (PI) programs.  The incumbent plans, develops, implements, administers, and manages a comprehensive program to improve patient care services; including patient safety, clinical outcomes, organization effectiveness and process efficiency. This position ensures that QA and PI programs meet accreditation, licensing and other regulatory requirements.

Utilizes his/her knowledge and expertise to direct and oversee operations of Quality Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Medical Staff Services. This includes planning, coordinating, directing, organizing, and evaluating clinical outcomes and compliance with The Joint Commission, FDA, EPA, OSHA, CDC, and DOH standards. Responsible for short and long range planning and promotion of interdisciplinary team practices. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

This position reports to the Regional Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

The Registered Professional Nurse III (RPN III) provides professional nursing care within the ED; coordinates care with other disciplines.  Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care.  Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.  Communicates with the ED physicians regarding changes in patient’s status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies.  Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. The RPN III works under the general supervision of the attending physician and reports to the Director of Nursing (DON).
