FUNCTION: This position exists within the Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit (ICU/CCU) of the Nursing Services Department of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 facilities statewide.

The ICU/CCU provides services for patients requiring primarily surgical patients or patients with serious cardiac conditions requiring the specialized services of the Coronary Care Unit.

This position is responsible to provide and meet the individualized age appropriate care needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population. This position is subject to rotating shifts and may be floated to other units.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education Requirement:  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience Requirement: One-half year (1/2) of professional nursing experience.

six (6) months of professional nursing experience must have been in intensive care /cardiac care services

FUNCTION:  This position is located in the ER Unit at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH).  The ICU unit provides age-specific nursing care services to medical patients in accordance with the physicians’ instruction.

 The Per Diem Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. In the event there are no patients in the unit, this position may be assigned to various units within the Nursing Services and may require cross training and floating as assigned.  Position is also subject to a combination of 12 and 8-hour shifts.

Systems Analysis and Implementation

FUNCTION:  This position is located in the Waimea Obstetrics Department, Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH).  The Obstetrics/Nursery unit provides all phases of nursing care involving prenatal care, disorders of pregnancy, complications of pregnancy, labor delivery, and care of the newborn and the mother.  This position is responsible for the provision of professional nursing care to patients in accordance with accepted standards and hospital policy.

The primary function of this position provides acute nursing care and treatment services on a 24-hour basis and is responsible for the total age-specific nursing care of the newborn, adult/adolescent patient in the unit.  In the event there are no patients in the unit, this position may be assigned to various units within the Nursing Services and may require cross training and floating as assigned.  Position is also subject to a combination of 12 and 8-hour shifts.

Secretarial Duties                                                                                                  

  1. Provides supplemental secretarial support to the Assistant General Counsel. In this capacity, this position must exercise initiative, independent judgment, discretion and tact in assisting the Assistant General Counsel and existing Private Secretary to organize, coordinate and accomplish the administrative functions of the office. Compiles and arranges material according to priorities and activities.
  2. Supports existing Private Secretary in all tasks as necessary and appropriate, including but not limited to the following:
  • Assists Assistant General Counsel with insurance program, including filing notices of claims and potential claims with the carriers, validating and distributing loss runs, completing coverage applications, requesting certificates of insurance from carriers and DAGS, and coordinating risk management education reimbursement fund expenditures.
  • Provides secretarial assistance to Legal Department staff as directed.
  • Greets and ascertains the purpose of callers and assists them by directing them to the appropriate staff, arranging appointments with Legal as needed, and directing them to other departments, meeting rooms, and personnel. Receives and screens telephone calls, determines action needed, makes appointments, provides information or material as requested or redirects inquirer to appropriate person; takes messages or writes a report of the situation for further action or follow-up by appropriate Corporate staff.
  • Prepares and distributes minutes to appropriate individuals and does follow-up work, when necessary. Provides staff support services necessary to facilitate the convention of these meetings.
  • Receives and reviews incoming mail, correspondence, reports and material directed to Legal Department members and determines whether they should be flagged for immediate attention, or prepares documents for signature or forwarded for routine disposition. Maintains record of incoming and outgoing correspondence and action documents. Reviews correspondence, reports, and other materials emanating from the Legal Department for proper form, grammar, and completeness.
  • Makes travel arrangements, maintains and arranges Legal Department staff’s calendars for appointments, conferences and meetings and makes arrangements for meeting locations. Assists Legal staff in the preparation of agenda and its attendant subject matter, clearance, verification, and prepares and/or gathers all necessary material in preparation for meetings and conferences.
  • Communicates and deals directly with Corporate staff, private agencies, out-of-state telephone inquiries during the absence of Legal staff on routine matters for completing various tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate corporate-wide policy program. Post policies, assign/track policy numbers, disseminate policies to all employees, maintain official policy files.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENESE

General Experience:  One-half year of work experience which involved performance of tasks which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling and arithmetic; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and speak and write simply and directly.

FUNCTION:  This position is located in the Social Services Department of Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH). SMMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 facilities statewide.

Provides social services to patients and families; makes home visits; participates in referral, transfer, and discharge conference; prepares necessary transfer and discharge documents; makes financial studies (means tests) to determine ability to pay; processes the necessary documents to determine eligibility for admission into the Intermediate Care Facility; and maintains liaison with the Department of Human Services and other governmental agencies.

The Social Worker III is responsible for providing crisis intervention, psychotherapy, family therapy, and comprehensive case management services for assigned patients/residents and their families. The cost for all physical examinations, except the cost for the drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation shall bear the cost of the drug screening.

CRIMINAL/BACKGROUND, CREDENTIALING CHECKS: Applicable checks will be conducted periodically and any associated costs may be borne by the applicant. If a job offer is made or employment is begun prior to completion of all applicable checks, any offer of employment or continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory return of all required checks.

HOW TO APPLY:  Please complete and submit our HHSC Employment Application.  Only applicants that have been through a Human Resources (HR) applicant screening process will be considered for an interview with the hiring manager. Applications for announcements with a deadline date must be on file no later than the last day to file applications. STEPS TO AN ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW, SUBSEQUENT APPEALS: If you do not agree with a decision made by the Employment Office as to your non-qualification or non-selection for a position, you may complete a Request for Administrative Review form or you may submit a written request within twenty (20) days from the date of your sent notice to the Regional Chief Executive Officer/Designee. Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include 1. The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2. the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is a statute or rule violation, and 3. any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Complaint and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
